A Public Service Announcement

Hey Kookis…we’ve been hiding way too long…to help get us warmed up, we’ve decided to write about a topic we both get approached about quiet often: EYEBROWS!

You’ve seen the offenders:

The misshaped and discolored, the over-tweezed, and the just plain invisible (we forgive you Gwen)…we are here to tell you that you don’t have to put up with these offenders any more.

The perfect eyebrow not only defines and highlights your eye, but also frames the entire face.  And with the plethora of products available these days, there is no excuse for not carrying those Red Carpet Brows.  I personally love Lorac and find this kit to be just right.

If you are a listed offender, we ask you to put down the tweezers and step away from the mirror!  First, determine what your face shape is.  Second, look at your brows in relation to the rest of your face.  Where do they start and where do they end?  Are they too light in comparison to your hair color?

A quick reference for brows is that they should naturally start where your nose just ends and extend just beyond the outside corner of your eye.  Think, if you draw a perfect 90 deg line from the outside of your nose and up, that’s your starting line.  If your brows are too light, try to match them to your current hair color or look for a shade just lighter than your current color.  Personally, I am a fan of powder kits, as they look more natural whereas liners tend to look painted on.  

Stop in at a Sephora or Ulta near you and ask the beauty consultants for some help on products.  And for some great advice on which arch is right for you, click on the image below and check out Jackie Sitoh’s (world-renowned makeup artist) reference guide for eyebrows.  Whatever your face shape is, she’s outlined the proper arch that’s right for your shape.

Can I get a Toot Toot?

The model featured above is Touline, or Tutu as we know and love her. Touline's natural beauty is undeniable, but with a few swipes of a brush and some hairspray, Tutu turned fierce!

We started with a demure look to complement the park-like settings. Touline's natural grace and elegant features made the job extremely easy. The look was rosy lips and cheeks with barely-there eye makeup: a subtle day look that's easy to accomplish with some foundation, loose powder, a rosy lip gloss, blush and soft brown liner and mascara around the eyes.

We were then off to the Jersey City waterfront, where we then turned up the heat with some smokey eyes, a rocking do and some chunky accessories. Dramatic eyes were accomplished with a smoky eye palette from Lorac and liquid liner and mascara to make the eyes pop. The lips remained neutral so as to not compete with the eyes. Cheeks were brushed with a pale peach color.
